What is Reformed? To be "Reformed" one must desire to bring all of life under the authority of scripture. This distinctive emphasis of the church began in the Protestant Reformation of 1517 when Martin Luther published his ninety-five theses. The idea was to bring all of life and faith into obedience to the word of God. This is expressed in Luther's first point where he states, "When our Lord and Master Jesus Christ said, 'Repent' (Mt 4:17), he
willed the entire life of believers to be one of repentance." That idea is continued today in the work of the Church and it transcends denominational lines. Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) seeks to call students to bring their whole life and faith under the authority of scripture. To see how the word of God applies to all areas of life helps the student to be equipped with a worldview that is biblical. We are committed to this as a major goal in how we reach the world for Christ. As appealing as this principle may be, there are many in the church today who have departed from the teachings of scripture in order to accommodate to the culture, philosophy, and beliefs of the day. It is due to this need to call others back to faithful obedience to scripture that RUF exists. We are answering that call on the campus of Marshall University by being theologically honest and winsomely welcoming. RUF has spread to more than 100 campuses across the country and has grown to include well over 200 full time staff. How can YOU help? |
