Participating ChurchesAn important distinctive of RUF flows out of the conviction that, although RUF alone is not the Church (but only a part) and cannot function in various respects as a local church (e.g., offering the sacraments, forming self-government, etc.), its ministry should and does follow as closely as possible the philosophy, pattern, and principles of ministry outlined in Scripture for the Church. The examination of the church’s mission summarized in the Great Commission (Matt 28:18-20) highlights both the importance of proclaiming to all people the Gospel of our Lord Jesus and the necessity of being connected to the Church, the body of Christ (1 Cor 12:12-27). In other words, RUF is concerned for a person’s relationship to Christ and their relationship to the church. For this reason, RUF encourages all students not to neglect the church during their college years. This is the place where Christians are equipped for service in God's kingdom (Eph. 4:11-12). Even skeptics can find the answers they seek as the church does its work (1 Cor. 14:24-25). So how do you find a good church home while away from home? RUF can help.RUF is not a replacement for the church, it is the arm of the church reaching out to the campus. There are many great churches in West Virigina, and several have called RUF to participate with them in advancing the Gospel of grace to this world. We encourage you to visit them and find a place where you can get involved regularly while you are in college. Local Churches in Rew River Presbytery |
